ESODROP is a sterile, isotonic solution, obtained by filtration, with Sodium Hyaluronate as active Ingredient. Sodium Hyaluronate is a hyaluronic acid sodium salt with high viscosity and molecular weight, extensively distributed into human tissues and intracellular fluids including vitreous and aqueous outflows.
This polymer belongs to the Glycosaminoglycans class (mucopolysaccharide acid), consisting of a polymer chain of disaccharide units (D-glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine) bonded by -glycoside bonds (Martindale; The Extra Pharmacopoeia, London The Pharmaceutical Press, 1989, 1617).
Other added components are synergists of the active ingredient and give the product characteristics of osmolarity and pH compatible with physiological values.
Whereas EDTA, thanks to its locking properties, enhances the effectiveness of the preservative system contained in the formulation, facilitating its penetration into micro-organisms cells.
ESODROP is used to restore the proper wettability and/or hydration of the lenses, particularly soft contact ones, while improving tolerability during wear.
Both raw materials used for ESODROP formulation as well as the finished solution itself undergo strict quality controls together with accurate product stability tests
